“ANALOGUE” – re-integrating physical print into a contemporary brand. An informal, experimental collection of case studies exploring physical print methods, why they’re awesome, and how they could be used in a contemporary brand.
A major element of my project was the 3d printed letterpress plates I made. Read more about why I made them inside the publication – but essentially, I designed, modelled and printed a device that I used to translate my digital artworks into letterpress plates. These plates were used to create the majority of the images used in the publication, as well as the title text.
An example of some of the letterpress plates used for this project, and the designs that I printed with them. These plates specifically are business card sized logos.

Experimented with physical printing methods. I experimented with tangible, messy and imperfect printing methods for this project. I had a lot of fun playing with the ink to achieve effects that aren’t possible digitally.
Balanced clarity and chaos with my layout design. This project needed to communicate my layout design skills, but thematically needed to be messy and organic. I used experimental hierarchy and other methods to maintain this balance.
Developed a tool for a specific job. To make the prints – I had to make something from scratch that did exactly what I needed using the tools I had available. All of the dimensions and requirements were completely unique, and I had to develop the solution without any guidance from people who had done it before.
